The Post

My borther got married-my cousin.
I was thinking of buying something magnificent like I did for his engagement ceremony.
ah, the engagement party, my brother was happy that at last he found her... I was ecstasic, wore a white evening gown with black embroidery...people who had seen me as a kid did not recognise me and some innocently asked my mom 'hey, is she a model?'

ten months later-Feb, 2007

Well, having spent a major part of my saving in going around places, lending money to students, friends and cab driver whose wife had a pregnancy complication I was nearing a financial low. Have been quite reckless. Reached for a pre-wedding ceremony yesterday after several hours of work and two hours of travel by buses and taxi. Was wearing a black shirt and jeans. ha ha I was expected to dress up as a prospective candidate for marriage (am the eldest daughter in the family and still unmarried), and here me appears for a family function in a dangerously low waist blue denim. OK dear, I will try to buy something nice, happy , traditional, feminine for the marriage function. I got up from the wedding home, thought I will fix the issues at work and then will buy something (haaate shopping) and reach the wedding party. Well, on my way back I saw a lot of stuff, glitter and gold-shopkeepers offered unbelievable rates and heavy discounts but me could not buy. Finally I picked a pair of sport shoes and a military green pyjama...(i need those but man they are useless for marriage function) went back to work and sitting in the cab late at night on my way to the hostel I was wondering about layers of understanding. They are all there singing and dancing to wedding tunes right now and me is far far away...too far. Have got ugly pimples and a swollen eye from an insect bite.

Am happy.
